Magic Mushroom Strains

Browse potency, effects, and discover the right strain for your journey.

A "strain" refers to a genetically distinct cultivar within a psilocybin-containing species — most commonly Psilocybe cubensis, the species used in the majority of clinical research. Strains differ in potency (psilocybin and psilocin concentration by dry weight), visual appearance, growing conditions, and subjective effect profiles reported by users.

Potency varies significantly between strains. A gram of Penis Envy may contain 2–3 times the psilocybin of a gram of Golden Teacher. This is why accurate strain identification matters for safe dosing — especially for anyone using the dosage calculator or following a microdosing protocol.

Each strain card below includes a potency rating, typical effects, growing difficulty, and which goals it suits best. If you're new to psilocybin, start with the "Best for Beginners" filter — these strains (like Golden Teacher and B+) are medium-potency, forgiving, and well-documented. For a broader taxonomy, see our species guide covering the genera beyond P. cubensis.
